Marking a significant milestone, Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo commemorates two decades of Espaces Louis Vuitton and ten years of the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s Hors-les-murs initiative with a luminous solo exhibition by Rina Banerjee. Banerjee’s practice is distinguished by its nuanced engagement with postcolonial histories. She orchestrates a symphony of textiles, ostrich eggs, feathers, and glass chandeliers—many procured from the Global South—imprinting each piece with echoes of migration, trade, and transformation. Her recent paintings weave together the refined ornamentation of Indian miniatures, the opulence of Chinese silks, and the potent symbolism of Aztec art.
